Frequently Asked Questions

📍When and where is the event?

👉The event will take place at School of the American Rifle, Elkton, MD, September 7th through the 24th of 2025.

📍Who is teaching at this event?

👍Colt, LaRue, School of the American Rifle, Sons of Liberty Gunworks, Windham Weaponry, Ned Christiansen/Michiguns, LMT, DoubleStar Corp, and IWI.

📍Can I just book just the SOTAR Class from this event?

👉No, the SOTAR Class from this event is one I’m holding for all of the instructors who are participating in the event. It’s my way of showing my appreciation for participating.

📍Will other weapon systems beside the AR-15 be taught?

👉No, this is an AR-15 Training event. Direct Impingement/Internal Piston AR’s only. Some Classes may discuss their large frame pattern guns.

📍Do I need to own an AR from each company to attend the classes?

👉Some companies require you to bring their brand of AR to attend (LaRue), some companies provide a training rifle for your bench (LMT, IWI, DoubleStar, Windham, & Colt), and some companies allow any brands for the class (SOLGW, SOTAR, & Ned Christensen/Michiguns).

NOTE: SOTAR can loan you a Class Rifle if you need one for the SOTAR, SOLGW, or Ned Christiansen/Michigun Classes.

📍Do I have to be Military or Law Enforcement to attend any of these classes?

👉No, any U.S. Citizens who are not prohibited from owning/possessing firearms are welcome. If you don’t have a FFL, or Carry Permit you may have to get a background check performed at an additional cost of 20 dollars.

📍How much is the event?

👉Each class can be booked separately and the cost of each class varies. If one were to book ALL of the classes, the cost would exceed $6000.00 (Not Including Travel/Lodging).

📍How much money is SOTAR/Chad making from the event?

👉I’ll be in the red, but it’s a worthwhile endeavor.. I’m doing this because I believe in technical firearm education.

📍When will seats open up?

👉All seats have been sold.

📍Will you do this again in 2026?

👉Yes, if the companies or instructors are interested, I plan to do this every year. If you take a SOTAR Class you’ll have an advantage next time we do this.

📍If I miss an opportunity to attend, can I be put on a waiting list?

👉Yes, I’ll either add a waiting list to our website or compile names myself.

📍Why are some manufacturers missing from the roster?

👉There are several reasons.
1) 18 days of non stop classes is a lot. We had to cap it.
2) Some companies don’t offer Armorer’s Classes or have active Armorers Classes so I didn’t ask.
3) I invited Ken Elmore of Specialized Armament. He ignored me. Greg Sully of Defensive Edge was not interested due to my site not being a Law Enforcement Agency.
4) Some instructors & Manufacturers will only teach Law Enforcement & Military. This would include LWRCI, Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Springfield Armory, Stag, and RRA.
If these manufacturers change their policy I’ll gladly welcome them to future events.
